The main goal of this conference is to present the most recent realisations related to the integration of cognitive tools in interactive learning environments, such as WWW and address the key research issues, for example Java based applications, next-generation markup languages for WWW (such as XML and MCF) and new pedagogical paradigms for network based learning. The conference also aims at presenting experiences from the educational usage of interactive material.
The nature of the LeTTeT '98 and MaTILDA '98 joint conference is interdiciplinary and it will be an opportunity for fruitful contacts between researchers from different disciplines: symbolic computation, mathematics, computer graphics, multimedia and educational sciences. The language of the conference is English.
LeTTeT '98 is the successor of LeTTeT '96 conference organised by University of Joensuu on december 1996 and MaTILDA '98 is the successor of MaTILDA '97 organised by RIACA, University of Amsterdam on May 12-13, 1997.
Both days will begin with keynote speaker session.

The conference is located at Pori School of Technology and Economics that is about three kilometers from the city centre. There is a map of Pori in two separate pages, namely the seaside and the city. The locations of the main hotels are marked at the city map and the location of the conference venue is marked at the seaside map.
The city of Pori has about 76.500 inhabitants and is known for its industry, harbours and active business life. The most important industrial sectors are the metal, mechanical, electric, plastic and wood processing industries.
Pori is a capital of the Satakunta region, which has 250 000 inhabitants. Big industrial plants are characteristic of the town. Pori has always had an active cultural life. The most significant music event is the annual international Jazz Festival held on Kirjurinluoto Island. See the location of Pori from the map. The weather in Finland on May is usually mild. Pori has exellent traffic connections. There are several flights to and from Helsinki (served by Finnair) and from Stockholm (served by SAS-Skyways). The airport is near the city centre - there is about two kilometers from the airport to the city centre. You can reach Pori also by flying to Helsinki Airport and by taking a bus from the airport to Pori. It takes about 4 hours by bus from Helsinki Airport to Pori bus station that is located at the city centre.
The accomodation is provided by the hotels in the city centre, for example Amado, Cumulus Pori, Hotel Jazz or Sokos-Hotel Vaakuna..
The registration fee is 1000 FIM (payed before the conference) and it includes conference proceedings, lunches and refreshments. On-site payment is FIM1200:-.
